New Inogranic Scintillators’ Application in the Electromagnetic Calorimetry in High-Energy Physics

Scintillation crystals Gd3Al2Ga3O12 (GAGG) are an excellent candidate for application in ionizing-radiation detectors because of their high radiation resistance, density and light yield. These can be used combination with lead tungstate (PbWO4 or PWO) the development a new generation electromagnetic calorimeter advanced spatial energy resolutions broad range. PWO enable accurate detection high-energy photons, while GAGG provide possibility precisely measuring photon energies, down to few MeV. Different options composite based on considered optimize range (from 1 MeV 100 GeV). In particular, different lengths section considered, from 0.5 10 cm. The separation signals photons hadrons is also taken into consideration through study shower shape calorimeter. optimization Geant4 simulations, considering collection as well use photodetectors electronic noise. Simulations verified yield measurements samples obtained using radioactive sources test beam prototype PWO-based Photon Spectrometer ALICE experiment at CERN.
